AKS-74 TECHNICAL DETAILS
The AK-74 is an assault rifle developed in the early 1970s by Soviet weapons designer Mikhail Kalashnikov to replace the earlier AKM (itself an improved version of the AK-47). It uses a smaller 5.45×39 mm cartridge, replacing the 7.62×39 mm of earlier Kalashnikov-patterned weapons.
